Incorporated in Kenya as Leyland Kenya Limited in 1974. Through a Special Resolution of the Shareholders the Company changed its name on 16 th May, 1989 to "Kenya Vehicle Manufacturers Limited".  It was the first vehicle assembly plant to be incorporated in Kenya and started production in 1976 with the first vehicle rolling off the assembly line in August, 1976. Cumulative production since inception now stands at approximately 60,000 vehicles. The plant was originally designed to produce light and heavy commercial vehicles including Land Rovers, Range Rovers, VolksWagen Microbuses, Leyland trucks and Buses. The vehicle model range produced at Kenya Vehicle Manufacturers Limited has increased over the years and now stands at 11. The range today includes Nissan Series, Mazda, Land Rover, Mercedes and Iveco. INVESTMENT Investment in buildings and plant now stands at 4 million US Dollars. AREA The plant covers an area of 40 acres of which 18 acres are reserved for further development. INSTALLED CAPACITY Installed capacity is 6,600 vehicles per annum, single shift. The company undertakes contract assembly i.e the customer (distributor) buys imports and transports kits to the plant at Thika. The customer buys all special jigs and tools and provides all local content except paint, fuel, oil and consumables. We are based in Kenya and we have a wide network across East Africa. Our range of products include Fleetguard filters, Valvoline lubricants, Radiator coolants and Helden batteries. We employ a two or three-tiered distribution model, utilizing a network of appointed wholesale distributors to service independent installers.

We supply a wide variety of hoses for every kind of need. From plastic garden hoses, Pirelli Teflon to Oil and Fuel Hoses. We specialise in the supply of Metal flexible tubing. Metal flexible tubing is made by winding profiled metal strip into a tube, the strip edges being completely interfolded. During winding a crimp is introduced into the strip providing a polygonal cross-section to the finished tubing. This ensures that the diameters remain constant when the tubing is cut, unlike plain round section tubes which tend to spring out slightly at one end. Attached to rigid pipework by welding or crimping etc., is thereby considerably facilitated. Being fully interlocked Metallic Flexible Tubing cannot unravel  USES - for absorbing vibration, thermal expansion and noise attenuation on engine exhaust systems of vehicles and stationary plant of all kinds. (e.g., passenger and commercial road transport, ships, mechanical handling, construction and earth moving plant, stationery generators, welding sets, etc.)
