RSM Bearings is a South African based company that facilitates the manufacture and supply of quality large bearings. We manufacture all ball bearings, roller bearings & slewing bearings from 300mm to 8000mm in diameter & we are able to supply within a very reasonable lead time. Fairly recently RSM has taken yet another step to improve our Slewing bearing quality and provide our clients with additional peace of mind. RSM now collaborates with a French company by the name of ATHOS in the production of all our slewing bearings. While it is a relatively young company it certainly comes with experience and superfluous credentials. ATHOS is owned and run by Pierre Bonhomme, a man that has been in the slew bearing business since 1974 working with ROLLIX & ROTHE ERDE from his inception all the way up until 1994. Then in 1994 he started his own company BRB TECHNOLOGIES, to manufacture special slew bearings. He later sold the company with the intention of doing something else but in the end at the request of old clients has come back to what he does best, which led to the start of ATHOS. Radial bearings, Trust bearingsBy the shape of rolling  elements each of these groups is further categorized into ball bearings, cylindrical roller bearings, needle roller bearings, spherical roller bearings  and tapered roller bearings.Most of radial bearings  are able to accommodate forces in axial direction too, just as some types of  thrust bearings can also cope with radial load. From the angle of action of  forces there does not exist an accurate boundary between both mentioned basic  groups of bearings.In order to select an  optimum rolling bed both from technical and economic viewpoint, the designer  should be well acquainted with characteristic properties of bearings as a  result of their different inner configurations. Not until then can the most  suitable bearing be selected for a particular application and its respective operating conditions.

Deliveries are done by 3rd party courier when necessary.SALES & MARKETINGAt present all marketing is done by Saggie Govender, due to the fact that we are still an emerging business. The result is a gasket which conforms to surface irregularities which can accept surface movement, can seal under arduous conditions and can be easily removed. More use is being made of new materials and enhancing the gasket with silicon coating and silicon beads adds to improved performance of the gasket.SUMP AND VALVE COVER GASKETSOil pan and valve covers in pressed metal format use a variety of rubber mouldings and CorkRubber provides a good seal. On cast aluminium types, asbestos and non-asbestos materials are more applicable. (Refer to our product range and specification).EXHAUST AND MANIFOLDSMetal gasket composites (or metal clad jointing) allows for differential expansion rates between the manifold and engine whilst sealing exhaust gas at high temperatures.SEALSRange from standard NBR (Nitrile) to silicones and high temperature Viton and are sourced worldwide to suite the application.INDUSTRIAL GASKETSGasket selection requires examination of three basic elements, namely:• The medium being sealed• Temperature and pressure influences• The construction of the flange where the gasket will be fittedDetermining the material which can be used to the best effect, must ensure that what is being sealed will not cause gasket degradation and be able to conform to flange irregularities without physical distortions to the flange.CORKRUBBER AND RUBBERUsed for sealing oils, air and water at low bolt loads. Many applications ranging from gearboxes, inspection covers to water piping gaskets use rubber or CorkRubber.ASBESTOS / NON-ASBESTOS COMPOSITESWith the demand for ever increasing pressures and temperatures, asbestos jointing is now being replaced by non-asbestos composites and can be used for high temperatures and pressures. However both ranges of materials cover a wide spectrum of specifications and are used throughout industry.FELT AND SPONGESUsed for dust or very low pressure sealing. Felts are sometimes impregnated with oils or wax to include lubrication properties. Sponges are used for a variety of low pressure seals/dust covers and even in cord form for ease of installation. It is also common for sponge gaskets to be supplied with a peel off self adhesive backing.ENGINEERING PAPERS AND SHIMSStill providing good service are the engineering papers used where high flange loads are available but low pressure is evident i.e. gear boxes. Shims in plastic are coloured to positively identify the precise thickness to allow for accurate settings.PLASTIC SHIMSUsing colour coded shim material provides easy, reliable and fast recognition of their thickness by their colour.
